We are plodding on here

Weatherwise it has been wonderful for May so far.  We just had three good days of rain and the temperatures have been in the 60's during the day and 40's at night.  The quilt came back out!

Healthwise, JET had the chemo, no significant improvement yet.  He also saw his other neurologist at the University hospital.  He ran more blood tests on him and has scheduled another EMG.  Some of the bloodwork came back with elevated muscle enzyme levels, still waiting on the other results.

We have been trying to cut out gluten and carbs from our diet as his VA neurologist said it helps reduce inflammation.  We have done this now for 2 weeks.  Again, no significant improvement in either he or I.  I was hoping it would help with the arthritis but so far it hasn't.  We will continue to try it though.  JET has lost a little weight doing it and I think I may have too but my scales at home are not very accurate so not sure on that.

We have been working on the dust collection system.  I have helped with running wires.  We had to do it twice as the pipe we bought the first time to run the cables through was too narrow and we snagged the wire a lot.  A costly error but we bought bigger pipe and new wire and now it is done correctly.

JET is now wiring in all the outlets and he doesn't need my help for that.

No mowing for a few days because of the rain, maybe back to it tomorrow.  Last time out I felt quite ill afterwards, I think the pollen and heat got to me, I left it too late in the day to start.

Hoping to get out early tomorrow am if it has dried out some.

We attended the Celebration of Life of our friend and neighbour on Saturday.  It was a good celebration but also very sad.

Done a little crafting but will blog on that in my other blog.

  1. I hope your husband sees better results soon. Mine suffers from migraines caused by his RA and other things as well. He has had a lot of help from the VA docs when other doctors couldn't come up with anything to give him relief.

We've had the rain too, but the weather guy says we are in for good weather now...yay. But yesterday I worked outside and did way too much. I have a sciatic issue and have to be really careful when it acts up. too much work caused a flare up and I tripped up the stairs to the deck and badly sprained my left wrist and pinky finger.. I'm amazed at how much it has limited what I can do.

Take care and have a great day today.
    xx, Carol

    1. I have to say that the VA in Columbia has been very good for my husband. The neurologist there is a wonder and we will be forever grateful to him whatever the outcome. I hope your hand doesn't take too long to heal. I am glad your husband is being helped too. His previous doctor at a different VA hospital had the attitude of "You've got it so get over it". He didn't try and help him at all. Needless to say we refer to him as Doctor Get over it.

  2. Hi Maureen, just popped over from Number 38 to say hello :) I had a look at your crafting blog and the leather work you do is amazing, especially the designs on the keyrings. How lovely to have a hobby you can share with your husband. Sorry to hear he isn't too good at the moment. xx

    1. Thank you for looking in on my blogs and welcome. Thank you for the compliment on the leather work. Haven't done too much lately as the workshop is kinda in a mess due to the 'dreaded' dust collection system that my husband is putting in and has overtaken our lives lol. Seems like he has made a lot of progress this past week so maybe I can get back to doing some.

  3. Hi Maureen
Do you know that you are a no reply blogger? I always like to personally respond directly to friends that comment on my blog. Some want to be no reply. Others don't know that it can be due to a setting on their Google Plus. Anyway, here is what I tried to reply to you:

Hi Maureen. It was silly of me not to stop before I got too tired. It causes me to not lift my feet as high as I should and easily trip. I can't tell you how many times I have fallen since the sciatic issue started about 10 years ago. I'm grateful I didn't break it. It happened the day I was accepted to start an online quilt class taught by Kathy Shaw. Luckily it is work at your own pace so I have a little catching up to do, but not much. At least I can still be outside enjoying the wonderful weather that has finally reached Northern Indiana!! Glorious warm and sun.

    xx,
